Christ Church signs agreement with Unitemps, to improve students’ experience and employability
Our Warwick business model has been successfully adopted by other universities around the country including City University, The University of Nottingham, The University of Surrey, Staffordshire University and now Canterbury Christ Church University.
Canterbury Christ Church University will be placing students and recent graduates in jobs across all University functions and local commercial businesses, with an emphasis on providing their students with essential work experience, skills and valuable knowledge as an integral part of the student journey.
Claire Charles, Acting Head of Career Development, said: “This is not only an excellent opportunity for all Canterbury Christ Church University students to gain some real experience in the world of work, to assist in their job hunt process, but also to our local employers and University departments who can quickly and easily fill vacancies, comfortable in the knowledge they will be contributing to student employability.”
Paul Brewster, Director of Unitemps, comments “Drawing upon the experience and expertise of recruitment consultants, HR professionals and the HE community, our franchise model has been developed to address the particular needs of Universities. It offers students and institutions all the benefits of an in-house recruitment agency, as well as addressing social responsibility concerns and enhancing the wider student experience to the advantage of all stakeholders. The network continues to grow at pace and we are extremely pleased that Canterbury Christ Church have chosen to join and take advantage of the obvious benefits for its campus and community. We look forward to working closely together to make Unitemps Canterbury Christ Church a huge success.”
Work will shortly begin to open the Unitemps franchise branch on the ground floor of Augustine House, supported by the comprehensive online service, www.unitemps.com.
Unitemps will be open for business in January 2015 and all students will have the opportunity to join Unitemps for work experience and job opportunities. Unitemps will be replacing the existing services of JobShop and TempShop, managed by the Career Development team.
